CASE 004 / THE BLACKWOOD ESTATE
FILE ID: PRS-004
STATUS: Inactive | PASSIVE OBSERVATION
CLASSIFICATION: SPT — Spatial
THreat level: IV
PRIORITY: GAMMA
The Blackwood Estate is an abandoned Victorian residence located within an isolated section of Vermilion Parish. Despite its deteriorated exterior, investigators consistently report signs of recent habitation including illuminated rooms, fresh footprints, and audible conversations originating from within the structure.
Personnel entering the estate have documented impossible architectural changes, prolonged memory gaps, and repeated encounters with unidentified occupants who disappear upon approach.
Although no confirmed fatalities have been attributed directly to the property, multiple investigations have concluded prematurely following significant psychological deterioration among field personnel.
Ownership records remain incomplete.
No documented resident has been identified.
FIELD NOTES
PHENEOMENON A: ARCHITECTURAL INSTABILITY

Repeated surveys indicate the estate's interior does not remain spatially consistent.
Rooms previously documented frequently appear in different locations during subsequent investigations. Staircases terminate at different floors, corridors extend beyond recorded dimensions, and several doors have repeatedly opened into rooms that did not previously exist.
No two survey teams have successfully produced matching floor plans.
PHENEOMENON B: OCCUPANT PHENOMENA
Investigators have repeatedly reported hearing conversations occurring elsewhere within the residence despite confirming they were the only personnel inside.
Witnesses describe voices speaking calmly, often discussing ordinary domestic subjects before abruptly falling silent when approached.
On six separate occasions, researchers reported brief visual contact with unidentified individuals standing within doorways or upper-floor windows.
No corresponding persons were located.
PHENEOMENON C: HOSTILE PERCEPTION
Extended exposure appears to alter investigators' interpretation of the environment.
Several personnel documented increasing certainty that they were no longer exploring an abandoned structure, but entering an occupied home where they themselves were the intruders.
These perceptions consistently intensified during prolonged investigations before resolving shortly after leaving the property.
No lasting cognitive effects have been confirmed.
RECOVERED EVIDENCE
EVIDENCE LOG 001: RUSTED CELLAR KEY
Recovered near the collapsed entrance to the estate's northwest cellar access.
Microscopic examination identified traces of unidentified organic residue embedded within extensive corrosion.
Despite severe oxidation, the key showed no measurable structural degradation and successfully operated a locked interior door during Investigation 07.
The corresponding lock has not been relocated.
EVIDENCE LOG 002: DAMAGED POLAROID
Recovered from the second-floor nursery beneath collapsed floorboards.
The photograph depicts an unidentified figure standing within a doorway absent from every documented survey of the estate.
Digital enhancement revealed faint architectural details inconsistent with the current structure.
Repeated scans produced slight variations in the image despite no measurable changes to the original photograph.
EVIDENCE LOG 003: ANALOG CASSETTE
Recovered from the master study desk during Investigation 05.
The recording consists primarily of tape hiss interrupted by ritualistic chants.

ANALYSIS
REFERENCE ID: BW-ANALYSIS-004
DATE: 10 JULY 2026

Following twelve documented field operations, the Paranormal Research Society has concluded active investigation of the Blackwood Estate.
Unlike many archived locations, the Estate exhibits behavior suggesting a persistent awareness of investigative activity. Architectural inconsistencies, recurring auditory phenomena, and repeated visual encounters demonstrate remarkable consistency across independent survey teams despite significant variation in environmental conditions.
What continues to distinguish this location is the apparent shift in investigator perception over time.
Personnel initially describe themselves as surveying an abandoned residence.
Hours later, many begin speaking as though they have entered someone else's home.
Whether this represents environmental suggestion, an unidentified cognitive influence, or a previously undocumented spatial anomaly remains unresolved.
Personally...
I find it difficult to dismiss the consistency of that particular observation.
The investigators never reported feeling threatened.
Only unwelcome.
There is a meaningful distinction.
The Estate has never attempted to convince us that it is haunted.
It has only ever behaved as though we arrived without permission.
Further investigation would likely yield diminishing scientific value while unnecessarily increasing personnel exposure.
Case PRS-004 will remain under passive observation pending new evidence.
